Young Adult Program (Under 30)

Young adults struggling with addictive disorders are often delayed in their social and emotional development. When dealing with younger clients, we need to be aware that in many cases, their brains are not fully developed until around the age of 25.

Specific programs to treat populations increase the cohesiveness within those communities, resulting in clients feeling more comfortable being open and processing the feelings that they have about past events and feelings they are having about the future.

Our masters-level therapists in our Young Adult Program are specifically trained to work with this population in our specially designed therapy and psycho-educational groups. For example, in “Am I Too Young?,” we provide individualized support to help clients address family conflicts and issues exacerbated by drug abuse. We also offer coaching to help parents of addicts navigate the challenges of supporting their children without enabling them.

The Young Adult Program provides alternatives to drug and alcohol use. Clients discover ways to have fun in recovery through trips to the beach, BBQs and other outings. There’s a music program that lets clients create podcasts showing off their talents. It also includes a life skills session with a focus on career and education to provide clients with the knowledge they need to make it on their own.

Our Young Adult Program unfolds in a separate therapy suite away from the other groups to allow for a private area in which to share and recover.

Our Program Director is Joshua Weaver. He obtained his master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University in 2010. His focus as a therapist is working with clients suffering from chronic relapse, severe traumatic history, medical trauma and emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Joshua also has extensive experience as a crisis interventionist, clinical supervisor of treatment programs and in the development of structured housing for treatment facilities. Joshua is trained to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for First Responders.

The Young Adult Program is an individual treatment focus based on client age, need, etc. and is part of both of our two treatment programs: the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
