First Responder Program
The First Responder Program at Transformations Treatment Center is a specialized treatment program that has been very successful in helping first responders battle their addictions and win. It is designed to treat co-occurring diagnoses including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders and depression.
This unique program is led by a first responder who’s also a masters-level therapist. It’s specifically designed to help firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military and other emergency personnel cope with the problems incurred by job stress and chemical dependency. Upon graduation, clients have a plan in place to help cope with stress management, improving their physical, mental and emotional wellness.
These brave men and women are subject to a level of physical, emotional and mental stress unlike anyone else. As their jobs have become even more demanding, stress levels have increased to the point where they experience some of the country’s highest rates of substance abuse, depression and suicide. Our unique First Responder Program has successfully treated hundreds of emergency personnel nationwide setting them on the path to success.
Those interested in this program are first placed in the Adult or Young Adult Program, then provided with the unique services specific to the needs of first responders. Participants may choose a 12-step traditional program or a 12-step Christian/Faith-based program.

Services for First Responders:
- EMDR Trauma Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). It works by reprocessing past traumatic experiences and finding closure so clients can move on from emotional pain.
- Individual Therapy
Private, weekly sessions that identify problem areas that influence specific thoughts and behaviors. Additional sessions are added when needed.
- Group Therapy
In this daily session, clients work as a team to address painful and difficult experiences with the help of a trained specialist.
- Pain, Stress and Anxiety Therapy
Stress-reducing techniques are offered to those suffering from chronic pain, anxiety, panic attacks and phobias.
- Dual Diagnosis
Our psychiatrist assesses psychiatric disorders, supervises medication and assists in treatment for clients with mood disorders in addition to chemical dependency.
Evidence-based Neurofeedback (BrainPaint) uses real-time displays of electroencephalography or functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to illustrate brain activity, often with a goal of controlling central nervous system activity. Sensors are placed on the scalp to measure activity, with measurements displayed using video or sound. Healing of fears, phobias, trauma, addiction, ADD and ADHD is promoted.
We offer the Serenity Lounge, with sound frequency healing, music therapy and guided imagery to help first responders relax, relieving stress and creating balance and harmony.
- Holistic nutrition with dieticians, natural supplement protocol and chiropractic services.
For a healthier, faster, more complete recovery, we offer safe, all-natural supplements that significantly reduce and/or eliminate the use of prescription drugs wherever possible and reduce the symptoms of withdrawal. One of the extras we offer compared to other programs is our on-staff registered dietician/nutritionist, who helps first responders manage their dietary intake and eat the healthiest meals.
- Health club/private trainer
We help all first responders maintain their physical fitness by giving them the opportunity to work with a personal trainer. This allows them to stay as healthy and in shape as possible, so they can deal with the rigorous work they may need to do when they complete treatment.
- Beach time and scheduled pool times
We provide our lakefront pool to all clients at scheduled times during the week and beach time on the weekends.
- Non-institutional Setting
We try to ensure that the first responder is as comfortable as possible during treatment. Each will have their own private bedroom with queen-sized bed and private bathroom, and each will have access to cable television and long distance in their two-bedroom apartment while at the program.
